Think!Chinatown invites Village Preservation for a Presentation & Discussion

The City’s proposed SoHo/NoHo rezoning plan includes an important corner of Chinatown. The plan has been rushed through during the pandemic without adequate engagement with the Chinatown community. Its official release is expected soon and the public review and approval process to immediately follow.

T!C invites Andrew Berman, Executive Director of Village Preservation to share research from a recent report on the implications of rezoning at this scale, and give us a fuller understanding of the plan and its impacts in Chinatown.

You are invited to join us to discuss what the city’s plan means for:

  • Affordable housing

  • Displacement of both residents and small businesses

  • Out of scale development

  • Demolition of historic buildings

Andrew Berman will present a Community Alternative Plan that aims to protect existing buildings and residents, incentivize new affordable housing that doesn’t displace residents or businesses, and help, not hurt, small businesses.

Join the T!C team for this info session and discussion. Questions are encouraged.
