Inspired by the place of mooncake tins in our memories, and in our present day observance of the festival, we asked our community of artists to use mooncake tins as the starting point for new works of art dedicated to the spirit of the mooncake tin! We’re so excited to announce that our closing celebration for the exhibition will be December 11, 4-6PM. There will be music, mingling, and fun prizes for our raffle. We’ll also be selling our Chinatown Art of Storytelling books and fun stickers which will make great gifts for the upcoming holiday season.
Our auction will end at 5:30pm on that day so be sure to check out all the amazing pieces these artists have created. Winners of the auction will also be able to pick up their pieces at that time. If you can’t join us, you can still bid on the Moonsquare auction remotely here. The proceeds will be shared between T!C and the artists, so this is an incredible opportunity to support as well as learn more about our community!
The art space at 1 Pike will also be open to view “HEARTMIND: Selections from the Bob Eng Lee and AAAC Collection.” Bob Lee will be there to answer any questions you may have about the collection. The exhibition engages the history of AAAC and the Asian American arts community, and themes of Asian American identity. You can read more about this exhibition and its counterpart at Pearl River here www.thinkchinatown.org/aaac
This will be our last meetup of the year, so we’d love to see you all and wish our neighbors a happy holiday and new year together!
